2nd Annual Homeless Thanksgiving Event
VNA Hospice Volunteering
HEP B 10/20
We are offering a new volunteer opportunity to members through Atria Richardson, a retirement home that provides independent living, assisted living and memory care services for elderly living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The volunteer opportunity will be an ongoing, semester-long commitment, with members being awarded MD points based on participation. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to gain service hours and build relationships with elderly patients and residents in a community setting. If you are interested in volunteering at Atria for the fall semester, please fill out this survey.

Achieve's 25th annual Dash for Dignity is a community-wide non-profit event, sponsored by Dallas Medical Center, that includes a timed 5K race throughout the flat streets of Farmers Branch, a 1 mile Dignity Parade, Carnival and Health Fair. We need volunteers to assist with distributing flyers leading up to the event, pre race logistics (putting together runner packets & putting finishing medals together), set up, break down, day of registration, running the carnival game booths, & walking alongside our Achievers in the Dignity parade (volunteers who sign up for only this slot will receive a finishing medal instead of a t-shirt). All proceeds from this event go to support Achieve's mission to empower adults with disabilities to achieve their highest level of independence and employment.

PPC Hospice is a new ongoing opportunity we have for members to volunteer their time to patients with terminal illnesses who are receiving palliative care. Members will help staff members provide meals, assist in enrichment activities, as well as have contact with nurses and family members of the patients. This is a great opportunity for you to be exposed to a growing area of the healthcare field, as well as serve the needs of patients in their last stages of life.

Digital Sherpa Program
The Digital Sherpa Program aims to help cancer patients (mainly 65 and older) and their families become more tech-savvy. The program’s workshops educate patients and care partners in basic internet and social media skills to help them in their search for information about their illness and support for them and their families.
